23 10 2008Sitemap online

I Updated this website with a sitemap (opens in new window), which is to be found under the "general information" link at the bottom of the main pages.

12 10 2008Google AdSense is gone. Up is a newly refurbished website :)

I told you before, it's hard being a designer since you only appreciate your designs so long. So I did it again. It all started out when I was finalizing my logo and then realized that the logo doesn't match the site anymore. Since I liked the logo, the only alternative was redoing the website again. The good news for me is that the website uses a lot less CSS coding now so that makes it easy for me. The header is totally different now, as is the background. The content however is pretty much the same.

Oh yes, and after a debacle with Google Irelands customer service, I took off Google AdSearch. I must honestly say that I might test it again on a later stage since I did liked the prospect and idea of having the ability to search straight from my website. However, I think I will be doing it a little different next time... if at all but the depends if the code works now. If I launch Google AdSearch again, it will be done from a page that everyone can set up as a homepage... but still thinking it over! :)

29 09 2008Updated the website to work with Google AdSense Search

Not that I felt THAT guilty putting ads on my website, but I did feel that it did not better the look having them so I decided to take the ads off. Still, this does not mean that you are completely rid of them but I just integrated them much better. Where before you had the ads visualized on the main pages, now you have a Google Search bar. Entering information there will search the world wide web through Google's engine and will give you the results on another page on my website.

The benefit of Google AdSense Search?

For me and for you as a visitor on this website it does give some benefits. First of all, the visitor gets rid of the annoying ads displayed on my website. Still, there will be ads visible when you search for more information but the big difference is that the ads are based on what YOU as a visitor are searching for. Good huh? :)

22 09 2008Main navigation and Marketing Research page

I have changed the look of my main navigation a little so it doesn't look that gray anymore. I also added a page for my experience in Marketing Research both as an interviewer and Team Leader (Supervisor).

Update!I took the Marketing Research page off since I do not wish to pursue that goal any more. Again, one of my visits to a Marketing Research institution resulted in having the feeling that they hardly consider their employees and just want them to finish the job for them. I cannot agree with this kind of thinking.

17 09 2008Minor updates

Only a few minor updates today. My telephone number is now added to the website. And I have added more intelligible META tags for search engines on my web pages.

15 09 2008Minor updates

I updated my portfolio with the previous website and made it possible to navigate from one website to the next one. :) Before you always had to close the window in order to open another website again. The reason for this is because they are standard set to open in a new window because the page you are reading at that point (portfolio/websites) is presented in an overlay through javascript, and that's not a good starting point to present an entire website in. So thanks to Walter Zorn his solution for moveable images and layers, I integrated a moveable div. If it's in your way, just grab and move it! :)

11 09 2008Major update with new background, different header, Google AdSense and RSS

It probably is the downside creating my own sites but after a few weeks I felt the background and overall look of the website was not really working for me. Although it really worked out as I designed it, it just didn't had that extra that I hoped for. There for, I did a major remodeling of the background mainly, but I also updated the header section and did a few minor changes in the content and the footer like the "general information" link is moved from the main navigation to the footer. If you visited this website before then I'm sure you see the difference. If not then you'll find a link on my portfolio pointing to the old website (at least an example) that I will be posting up in a few days.

But more important for the visitors reading my website, I added an XML feed to the main pages. With XML now build in you can simply check that feed in your own RSS reader and whenever I do an update, you will receive a notification through that reader. No more need to visit my website regularly (but please do) ;). I also will be adding an RSS button in the coming days but for now you'll have to depend on the automatic RSS icon in your browser.

04 09 2008Minor updates

Applied minor changes on the overall look. Most noticeable are the links to follow and the portfolio images that now have a little background and hover state. The navigation has been moved around (contact is now last in the list). I also changed all the text color to black and again changed some CSS to simplify the coding.

03 09 2008freelance.marceldaems is now moved to my main domain!

I have switched my freelance website over to my main domain and over time I will delete http://freelance.marceldaems.com/. Visiting http://www.marceldaems.com/ will now be my professional website. My private website will move to http://about.marceldaems.com/ but I'll post here when that happens.

03 09 2008Portfolio updated... again.

Again I rearranged the text on the "Portfolio" section. The biggest change now is that I have added samples from work I created as a packaging artworker while I was working at Schawk bvba Belgium. Thanks for the input K :) Also updated is the navigation menu.

30 08 2008Portfolio section cleaned up and updated.

I have rearranged the entire "Portfolio" section and added a few samples of work. Also updated today are the "Profile" section where now you can find a direct link to this page with updates plus I have changed the Host Excellence banner in 2 smaller ones. Some other pages have minor updates, mostly text based.

I also changed some CSS coding and some other things in the background of this website but nothing I am going to bother you with. ;) Mostly it involves better structure and re-writing some CSS code so it's more compact now.
